What's the best time of year to visit Tērvete Park?
Each season offers something special. Spring brings wildflowers and bird activity (April-May). Summer offers long daylight hours and warm weather (June-August). Fall features stunning foliage and fewer crowds (September-October). Winter walks are possible but require appropriate footwear — trails can be icy or snowy (November-March).
Are the trails accessible for people with mobility challenges?
Many of our featured routes are accessible or have accessible sections. We clearly mark trail difficulty, surface type (paved, gravel, natural), and elevation changes in our guides. Some paths in Tērvete Park have improved accessibility features. We recommend reviewing specific trail details before you go.
How long are the typical walks?
Our routes range from 1 to 5 miles. We offer easy walks (45 minutes to 1.5 hours), moderate walks (1.5 to 3 hours), and longer routes for experienced hikers. All routes include estimated completion times and information about rest areas and water sources along the way.
What should I bring on a forest walk?
Essentials include comfortable hiking boots with good grip, weather-appropriate clothing in layers, a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, and a basic first aid kit. For longer walks, bring snacks, a trail map, and a charged phone. Check our detailed packing guide for route-specific recommendations.
Are there guided group walks available?
Yes! We organize guided walks throughout the year. These are wonderful opportunities to meet other walkers, learn about local ecology and history, and walk with experienced guides. Check our services page or contact us to learn about upcoming group walks and how to join.
